While being a good influence on your children is perhaps one of the best reasons to live a healthy lifestyle, the busy life of motherhood is also one of the best excuses not to. We are over worked, stressed out, and can never seem to make time for ourselves.
Life is constantly demanding, and just one thing is more demanding than the scolding of an angry boss, the disapproval of your own mother and family, or even the feelings of your spouse. That is the pressure to be a good mom.
These real, beautiful, amazing little people love you and depend on you. You feel the weight of the world on your shoulders just trying to do the best you can for them. You may constantly question if you're doing enough.
As much as you want to lose weight, and as much as you know you should- you get lost in the daily grind of doing for others. You give so much to the people you love and you forget to do anything for yourself. You forget to eat right, forget to exercise, and forget to take time to enjoy the things you were once passionate about.
We as mothers, possibly more than anyone else, truly deserve to take time for ourselves and live a genuinely healthy and happy life. Only by allowing yourself to feel confident, thankful, abundant, and happy, do you have the ability to truly be the great mom you want to be. That is the only way I was able to be a calmer, happier, and more loving mother to my two children. You, too, deserve to feel better for yourself, and for your children.
Of course, it’s not easy to go from feeling overwhelmed and uncomfortable, to accomplished and grateful.

As a mom, I felt all the same pressure. It took a lot for me to understand the skills it takes to build confidence, and lose 175 pounds- even through financial devastation, marital problems, and helping my children guide through the stress we felt as a family- that included loss and instability. My kids, surely similar to your children, had the added pressure of grades, bullies at school and, for my daughter, questioning her own identity.
Despite all the pressure I was experiencing, I realized that taking the time to accomplish my goals was not selfish! ! It was necessary! Losing 175 pounds and maintaining a healthy lifestyle is what I needed to do so that I could be the best version of myself, and strong enough to support my family through the darkest times. The best version of yourself is what you need to become to live the life your really want.
